Wonderful Week 2!!

We made name maps to spotlight the things we love! We will use these in writing to help us generate topics we can write about!!

 Read to Someone: Another reading center is read to someone. We choose a partner, sit elbow to elbow, knee to knee, and take turns reading to each other!! We are enjoying reading to a buddy and listening to our buddies read:)

 Partner math is one of our math centers and we loved learning to play roll and record!

 Open Mic Friday: Each Friday, we can sign up to perform one of our poems or songs from our fluency folder. Rereading something that is familiar to us increases our reading fluency!

 We are learning all about science and this week we were engineers and we tried to build a structure that could hold 15 pennies. We only had a small box, 5 straws, 5 coffee stirrers, and 5 mailing labels.  So much fun!!

First Week of School Fun!!!

Getting to Know You: We spent time getting to know each other with games, including a Skittles game and a Lego listening game!!

 We started working on our reading stamina after we learned that there are 3 ways to read a book: read the words, read the pictures, and retell the story!

 Science Fun: We learned about Albert Einstein and made a little version of the famous scientist! We also shared what we want to learn about this year in science!!  There were many topics, from animals,   fossils, and planets, to experiments and slime!!
